baby shower bananza

We hosted a baby shower over Valentine's Day weekend in honor of my very first niece who is arriving at the end of March. It was fantastically fun and I've been anxiously waiting to share. I started the planning process with an inspiration board and couldn't be happier with the results.

A bright pink and green color palette made every detail pop.

I tried really hard to cover every detail from the plastic baby do dads in Baby Shower Bingo to the tiny bouquets of baby's breath.

I've always wanted to do a baby block cake and our friend Gabby was able to make that happen. She did a wonderful job on the cake. It was delicious too!

I used jars instead of plastic cups to give the party that extra special feel.

All of the food was camping themed with a miniature twist. You can find all of the recipes used on Inspired Taste.

The biggest hit was the take home treat: mini granola bars for the trail. Speaking of, stay tuned as I'll be posting a step-by-step so you can DIY a cute treat for your next party.

Dad Win

I'm getting excited about having a baby. I have a feeling he/she is going to be the coolest kid ever ... much like this baby who, I'm sure, was the life of the party. Maybe we can steal this costume idea!

We find out tomorrow if it is a boy or a girl, so check back in to find out!

Ode to Dorothy, a fashion rebel

My grandma Dorothy passed away recently. Last night we were going through her photos and I realized that she just loved loud colors. The bright purple and blue eye-shaddow, paired with a fuscia blouse just drove me crazy. But now I see they were strategic fashion choices she used to have a strong appearance to match her strong personality.

I put together a Dorothy-inspired outfit in her honor:

Love ya grandma!

jars galore

I have a few boxes of these jars hanging out after using them as cups at the baby shower I hosted this past weekend (more on that to come), but I have NO idea what to do with them. I certainly won't be doing any canning.

They do make for cute office organizers - for pens, ribbon and the like. But I have BOXES of them. I need more uses. This shelf from old new again is kind of perfect. And I love the wall vase and hooks!

Baby bump

I'm excited to share that I've teamed up with Momaha.com, a social networking site for Omaha area moms, to write a weekly fashion blog about all things mommy-chic! Check out my first couple of posts talking about baby name trends and dressing up 'The Bump.'

Speaking of bumps, I had Ben snap a pic on Valentines Day so you all could see what I'm talking about. Small, but mighty! What counts is I FEEL huge.

doily chic

I have a box full of doilies just waiting to be used. Maybe I'll try making them into a doily pillow when I get some spare time.

Very chic for doilies. I approve.

Decoder save the dates!

"How fun are these decoder save-the-dates? I’m a nerd myself so you can imagine my excitement over this idea! They come with red glasses that reveal the message. I can’t hardly wait for their wedding, it’s going to be off the hook if you haven’t noticed yet. Shot by the darlings Kelly and Ryan from Kellan Studios.

"From the bride,
“I did all the printing of the cards, envelopes, and stickers myself on a home inkjet and on a large-format printer, and we bought the decoder glasses online for about 20 cents a piece.” She said can custom design them if there’s anyone interested! Just leave a note below and I will give her email address."

In the ring

Check out this photo of MMA fighter Michael and his fierce fiance Candace! I love that they chose a backdrop that was unique to them. They were photographed by Austin-based Christina Carroll and you can seem more frames from this shoot over at Elizabeth Anne Designs.

What is a location that is totally unique to you or your significant other? Or both?

my valentine

I love this Jersey Knot Bracelet bracelet by Tanya Aguiniga.

And since my husband decided to give me a Christmas card for Valentine's Day (actually it was kinda cute) I decided to take things into my own hands by getting this diddy for myself.

Can't wait to wear it!

all things girl

I love all of the clutches and totes in EightSeason's shop. I just found out that I'm going to become an auntie to little girls twice this year, once in March and once in July. I can't wait until they get older and I can buy them cute totes like this.

Who are they copying?

I saw a beautiful, simple, elegant cake on a blog today and saved the photo. Five minutes later, on a different blog, from a different wedding, I saw the same cake. It didn't seem like they were from the same bakery, so what are these cakes emulating? A Martha? Anyone know?

In any case, steal this cake design! It is chic, modern and PERFECT for your wedding.

Sorry, I don't have the credits!

Delicious fonts

Peep these Helvetica cookie cutters by Beverly Hsu! They are perfect for EVERY occasion ... either people will love them or want to talk about them. Since the hubs and I are font nerds, they would have been great at our wedding.
