The roof is on fire

My house is scorching hot. So hot. We knew when we moved in that soon we would have to replace the 60 year old AC, but we thought we would be hippies, save the planet and sweat out the summer until we could get it replaced in the off-season ... and then it hit 90 degrees.

A Service One technician came yesterday and declared our air-conditioner dead. The diagnosis of our problem, I find hilarious: No cool.

I knew I shouldn't have lost my cool! Darn it. So I'm off to learn about purchasing an air-conditioner! Stay cool!

so much to do

I need one of these snazzy "Freakin To Do Lists" from Vale Design.

The best part is I (and YOU) can download free printables on the Vale Design blog!

She also has awesome "The Dreamy Blog Topics To Post List" and "Happy Husband Kit" printables available.

Please practice Erin's rule..."COMMON SENSE RULE: PLEASE DO NOT COPY, REPRODUCE, MODIFY OR PROFIT FROM THIS DESIGN IN ANYWAY. {Cheating means we have to stop sharing. Please don't be that person.}"

gotta get me some xylene transfer artwork

These awesome pieces from Gregory at beauchamping are amazinggggggg. The description on his etsy shop reads:

"It’s like a screenprint, but without the screen, and the artwork is hand-transferred inch by inch over a long hour. Each piece is an original, slightly different from the last, all signed and numbered."

Sounds like a lot of work, but WELL worth it!

Saw this on OK Great. Photos from beauchamping.

Countdown to Megan's wedding!

My LONG time friend Megan is getting married this Sunday! I'm so excited for her! I hope she realizes that I will be posting every cute detail here. But first, since I am a bridesmaid, we need to talk hair. I'm thinking messy up-do something like this photo of Vanessa Hudgens. My dress is strapless, so I kind of want something that puts my hair closer to my shoulders. Any ideas?

busy weekend

It was a very busy weekend at my house. We did all of the things we haven't had time to do yet this spring: waxed the cars, stained the deck, pulled weeds, painted trim and refurbished our old outdoor lights. Here they are before...

...and after

I love how a can of spray paint can save you a couple hundred bucks!

Getting stuff done!

I just wanted to say WOOOOO HOOOOO! I just got a copy of a calendar I illustrated for Nebraska's Eastern Library Association. Twenty drawings of twenty libraries was a HUGE undertaking! But, I think it turned out beautifully.

just gorgeous

These pieces of jewelry by Saloukee are just gorgeous! They are hand-made from embossed paper and are truly one-of-a-kind.

Here's a product description:

"It has delicate charring on its edges from amazing laser cutting technology, giving it a luxurious vintage feel. Once cut it is intricately riveted together and finished by hand, making each piece individually unique."

All of these pieces are sold on Joolia. (Photos from Saloukee)

Not enough wedding guests? Just rent some!

I don't think this is an issue in the US, but who knows, it could catch on here ...

MSNBC.com: "We'll attend the wedding as your friend instead of your friend," Hiroshi Mizutani, who heads Office Agents in Tokyo, a company that rents out guests, told Reuters.

"Suddenly, a guest might not be able to make it. Or maybe you are concerned about the gap in the number of guests you have compared to your partner. Or, there are many temp workers these days and they may be uncomfortable inviting the boss."

For 20,000 yen ($200), Office Agents provides a staff member to attend the ceremony. For an additional 5,000 yen, that person can perform a song or a dance. Pitch in another 10,000 yen and that person can make a speech that would make you proud.
