J Crew unveils new wedding line (heh, heh, get it?)

J. Crew seems to be adding more sweet little details to their classic gowns. See more photos on Smitten.

floral typography

We've blogged about the fabulous work of Yulia Brodskaya before. But floral typography is showing up everywhere these days, in part because everyone seems to be going green.

Here's a sampling of the collection of floral typography over at Smashing Magazine. So pretty to look at.

Thanks for the heads up @pinkgrammar (you can tweet her)!

This is a wedding photo shoot for the 2009 Wedding Issue of Nashville Lifestyles. The amazing photos are by Tec Petaja Photography.

Even though it's not a real wedding, it's gorgeous! And it looks authentic. I'd take it (horses and all) any day. Plus, Tec Petaja does shoot real weddings. Those photos are amazing too.

Many, many more photos from the shoot here.

amazing

Jorge Colombo drew this week’s cover of The New Yorker on his iPhone (I knew there was a reason I got an iPhone) in an hour! He used Brushes, a mobile painting app, to do it. You can read all about it on The New Yorker's website.

Here's the video of how he did it (via Brushes Viewer):

All I can say is WOW! I'll sure be getting the Brushes app.

studio foto

I was turned onto Studio Foto by this photo on Style Me Pretty. They do awesome work. I especially love their Love Shoots!

They're based in Connecticut, but I'm pretty sure they'll travel anywhere. If you're getting married or engaged soon, especially in Connecticut (ahem...) check them out.

dazzled, i'm sure

Ever heard of ShoeDazzle? Apparently it's the world's premier shoe society. You can join online and receive one pair of shoes, picked out especially for you by stylistas, for 39 bucks each month. ShoeDazzle's Chief Fashion Stylist and Co-Founder is Kim Kardashian. Sounds pretty interesting and very cool. According to the site, here's how it works:

1. Take our Fashion Survey: It only takes a few minutes for us to get to know your style.

2. Our stylists pick 5 shoes for you: Based on your survey results, our fashion experts provide you with a choice of 5 fashionable shoes each month, from which you choose one. If you do not like your choices, you can select "Skip this Month" and you won't be charged for that month.

3. Choose the pair you want: We provide free shipping. If you are unsatisfied with your shoes, simply return them to us using the pre-printed return shipping label provided with your order.

I do have a few concerns with this society:
1. For $39/month, are these really quality shoes?
2. The fashion survey seems a little limiting (I took it). Would they really get a grasp of what I like from it (purple shoes, bottom row, second from right)?
3. Kim Kardashian.

Should I give this a whirl and document my findings?

First things first.

It's official, we are closing on our first house on Friday!!!

I swore up and down to anyone who would listen that I was never going to buy a house. Never. Ever. I. Was going to travel.

Well, I blame my mother-in-law (hi Suzy!), home decorating blogs and the people with the drum set who live above our apartment for pushing me over the edge into the home-owning abyss.

So now, I am ready to fly through the packing and moving part, oh, and the signing my life away part, to get to the point where I get to decorate my HOME OFFICE!

There are some great ideas for decor over here.

loving: cupcake liners

i don't cook, really

I don't really cook. At all. But for some reason I am loving all of the kitchen gear over at Rockett St George.

Their site is full of things I want, including this "every day i love you" picture, but I need some of their kitchen accessories.

Party or picnic perfect!

Simple and elegant and they're tumblers!

I love cake, it's no secret.

My favorite, I'm trying to talk my husband into thinking the same.

You can pick all of these up on their website.

what to do with that space

Baltimore is full of unused, abandoned urban space. But Baltimore's Office of Promotion & the Arts has recently put up a Flickr site called the Baltimore Infill Survey in hopes of sparking conversations about how these spots can be used.

On the Flickr site, there's a template image of an empty lot (above). The idea is to pull the photo down and fill it with something useful. Here are a few of my picks. There are many more on Flickr and, of course, you can make your own and send it in!

I'm loving the idea of an urban beach.

Or how about a giant fish tank!

A big bean...Chicago?

A waterfall could be refreshing.

doodle 4 google

Google is giving K-12 students a chance to doodle their logo based on the theme "What I Wish for the World."

The competition was narrowed to 400 doodles from across the country by a group of judges. Now it's your turn to vote for a national winner from 40 designs.

This is an awesome idea on Google's part. Some of these kids are really talented.

Go vote here!

for you, q

I know we have at least one fan out there from Portland. This is for you.

When it comes to web design, T is so gorgeous and simple.

Right now they have a Portland Style Map up. It's an easy-to-use guide to eight Portland artisans. I'm totally interested in #3 Everett Station Lofts.

Portland is such a great city; you should check it out.

swimsuit season is upon us

I'm a sucker for swimsuits. And now that swimsuit season is quickly approaching, I'm on the lookout for a new suit to add to my collection. I've been swooning over this Burberry swimsuit for a few months, but am keeping my options open.

My search has lead me to one of my fav store: Anthropologie! This season they have a great selection of swimsuits. Here's a roundup of some I'm considering:

I'm not typically one for a one piece (yet), but these are just cute enough that I might reconsider. Love the obi belt and almost strapless (so it won't fall down!).

These two bikinis caught my eye. They're both black/navy, but they have a certain flair. I love the button and one strap!

pimp your pumps...

I came across these very interesting shoe clips on No Carnations' etsy shop.

Basically, these are just simple shoe decorations that allow you to transform an old staple shoe into a fashion statement. The description reads:

Use these wonderful clips on everything from wedges to sandals, to slip on open toe shoes, even ballet flats, and of course any color pump! One size fits most.

Easy to wear with comfortable ribbon ties or elastic. Shoe clips are discreet and easy add/remove. No one will know but you!

I haven't decided how I feel about these pump pimps yet, mainly because I love my shelves of shoes and these promote not buying more shoes!

If you decide to give these a whirl, let me know how it goes.
