the new scrabbulous

It looks like Scrabble, one of my fav board games, is getting an overhaul. It's sure going to be bright and different! But the tiles appear to be the same. The design was done by Phillips Design Group.

Check it out over at The Dieline.

Here we have the old and new.

For the type snobs out there

Jeff Matz Designer/Principal of Lure Design created this last week for a screen printing presentation at “Pull + Ink” Art Center of South Florida, South Beach for AIGA Miami. They were such a big hit - they decided to put them up for sale! (via swissmiss)

now that's a utensil

I don't spend much time in the kitchen but if I did I would totally use these salad wrenches from Atypyk.

Seems like I good way to coax the man of the house to cook as well!

fun!

I was looking for a birthday card today when I stumbled upon this sumo wrestler card. His little belly button is even punched all the way through!

This guy was just too awesome, I had to buy him. Now he sits on my desk. Every time I look at him I have to laugh.

hello, yum.

I found myself watching an episode of "Rich Bride, Poor Bride" the other night. It was a poor bride episode and the bride was on a strict budget. The only thing the groom wanted was a popcorn and a cotton candy machine at the reception. He ended up getting both. Having the machines up and running for all during the reception was kind of odd but the cotton candy treat was actually a hit.

So, if your groom insists on having cotton candy at the reception, you might give these mini-cotton candies on sticks posted over at Martha Stewart Weddings a whirl.

Happy birthday, hubbie!

Saturday, my husband Ben turns 27. To celebrate, we will be sitting for 13+ hours in a theater watching all the Best Picture nominees! I haven't seen any of the five movies, so I ran out and bought tickets from AMC theaters. I wonder which one will be my pick to win ...

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: I'm not a huge Brad Pitt fan and I hear it is really long, but I love a good heart-wrenching love story.

Frost/Nixon: History AND journalism! I'm expecting to like this one.
Milk: I knew nothing about Harvey Milk until I read about this movie. It sounds like a great story that I feel I should have known about before now.

The Reader: Love reading, love Kate Winslet, I'm expecting this to be my favorite movie out of the bunch.
Slumdog Millionaire: For a while I couldn't go anywhere without hearing people raving about this movie. Please, let it live up to the hype!

in prada heaven

This weekend Josh and I headed to the outlets so I could spend some of my Christmas giftcards. It was one of my best shopping trips to date!

First I found this amazing Burberry coat at the Burberry Outlet. I got it for $216.00. Its "outlet" retail price is $1,025.00. I was ecstatic with the deal (especially since I had a giftcard!) and had dubbed it one of my best buys of all time until I walked into the Barney's Coop.

At Bareney's Josh saw the most beautiful pair of purple Prada shoes. Prada is typically SO out of my price range. But these were an unbelievable deal and out of two pairs left at the store, one was my size. It was fate! The original "coop" price was almost $600.00 They were marked down to $260.00 and they were SEVENTY PERCENT off of $260.00. I paid only 68 BUCKS for these beautiful shoes! This is now my best buy to date.

Currently loving: Tiles and TP

"Corner Forest" by Yuken Teruya. That's a DIY/eco-chic project I want to try. These are just gorgeous! What else could be created from unexpected materials?

Edgewater, North Vancouver, B.C. If I had a kitchen, I would build its design around these glass tiles.

cute!

Right now I'm working on some really cute wedding invitations that require heavy duty sewing on paper. I couldn't have been happier when this popped up on design*sponge today.

These Valentines from Purl Bee are so darn cute. And super easy to make. They've posted a step-by-step process on their site. While you're there be sure to check out all of their great fabric prints.

I'll be sure to post the invites when everything's said and done. Watch for them come May.

glad it's not 1943

A friend of mine sent this little factoid to me and I forgot to put it up on February 7! It's too jarring to not post.

February 7, 1943: The government announced the start of shoe rationing, limiting consumers to buying three pairs per person for the remainder of the year.

Only three pairs of shoes? Oh my, I'm glad it's not 1943!

smitten with smittens

These smittens are the perfect solution for those chilly winter walks. You can hold hands AND stay warm! Perfect Valentine's Day gift? I think so. Look out, sweetie, you're getting these bad boys.

From the website:

QUESTION:
What are smittens?

ANSWER:
Smittens are mittens specially designed so that two people can hold hands inside of one mitten.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN:
I created the idea of Smittens while on a romantic walk with my husband. We were trying to hold hands through our bulky mittens, when it dawned on me to create a mitten that was large enough for both our hands. That way, I thought, we could truly hold hands.

Great deal on designer clothes

I recently stumbled upon what is now my mini obsession ... 70% off designer clothes.

Right now, you can get Marc Jacobs at Gilt.com. I am drooling over that dress!

And Ideeli.com just gave away a $1,400 Cloe bag for FREE! Not to me, but it's still exciting.
